The share of energy from renewable sources in 2017 was 39.01% in the total final energy consumption increased from 37.14% in 2016 to 39.02% in 2017 and 40.29% in 2018, thus reaching the renewable energy target set for Latvia for 2020 – 40%. The increase in the share of share of energy from renewable sources in 2017 and 2018 was mainly influenced by changes in the requirements for mandatory fuel blending and the promotion of the use of renewable energy resources in district heating and the industrial sector.
