Latvia became a Member country of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on 1 July 2016.
The Ministry of Economics is responsible for participation and advocacy of Latvia’s national interests in seven OECD committees/working parties in such fields as economic policy, consumer rights protection policy, export credits, competition, tourism, statistics, innovation, and industry and entrepreneurship.
The Ministry of Economics also ensures the national coordination of the periodic OECD’s Economic Surveys of Latvia, produced every second year. Each Survey observes the major challenges faced by Latvia, evaluates the short-term outlook, and makes specific policy recommendations in order to help the Latvian government and policymakers to provide the sustainable development of the national economy. Next Economic Survey of Latvia will be published by the OECD in 2024.
