During the visit, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy will meet with the leadership of the Ternopil region to express Latvia's full solidarity with Ukraine and its people, as well as to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, expressing interest in the implementation of new cooperation projects in various fields, ranging from transport, using the opportunities offered by LV ports, to innovation and technology.
The State Secretary will also participate in the Latvia-Ternopil Oblast Business Forum, which will bring together representatives of companies from both countries. Within the framework of the business forum, LDz Ritošā sastāva serviss plans to sign an agreement on the supply of spare parts with the Ukrainian company Ukroliyamash, ELPO, as well as a memorandum of cooperation with the Ukrainian Association of Transport Infrastructure Innovations. A Memorandum of Understanding between the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia and the Ternopil Regional Council of Ukraine is also planned. Mr Valantis will also get acquainted with the activities of the Industrial Park "Zapadno-Ukrainian Industrial Industrial Association" and several companies.
In Kijiv, E.Valantis will meet with the management of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the Co-Chairman of the Latvia-Ukraine Intergovernmental Commission from the Ukrainian side, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers O.Nemchinov, to discuss bilateral economic cooperation issues, including preparations for the meeting of the Latvia-Ukraine Intergovernmental Commission scheduled for May this year, as well as the involvement of the EM in the reconstruction of the region in 2024.
During the meeting with Jean Eric de Zagon, Head of the European Investment Bank Regional Office in Ukraine, and Gevorg Sargsyan, Head of the World Bank Country Office in Ukraine, it is planned to discuss the opportunities for Latvian companies to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine, as well as the support instruments and conditions offered by the Ukrainian side. Together with Latvian businessmen, Mr Valantis plans to meet with representatives of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss further opportunities for cooperation between companies from both countries.
