On 9 May 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a project for further development of the National Platform for Business Development www.business.gov.lv. It provides that by 2030 all public administration e-services available to Latvian and foreign entrepreneurs will be available to entrepreneurs in one place – on the business.gov.lv platform created and maintained by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (IDAL).

Public administration should lead the way by urging entrepreneurs to become more competitive, encouraging the digitisation of different technological processes and increasing productivity. We continue to work on measures to improve the business environment and remove barriers, also increasingly digitising services provided by the state. For several years entrepreneurs have had access to the single IDAL service platform, where information on the support available from the state can be received. By broadening its framework, it will be convenient and quick to receive all e-services information for entrepreneurs, thus reducing bureaucratic processes for compiling the necessary data and information,” the Minister of Economics Ilze Indriksone says.

The IDAL has embarked on the road to a single business platform using the activities of the project implemented under the new European Union Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). Within the framework of the project “Digital Services Platform for Promotion of Business Development”, the section of all e-services intended for entrepreneurs will gradually be taken over from the portal of Government Services latvija.lv, which is administered by the State Regional Development Agency.

Iveta Strupkāja, Deputy Director of IDAL in Export Matters:

This platform development project is one of the steps in digitising public administration. Our goal is to make business cooperation with public administration as convenient as possible by reducing the time spent on carrying out various administrative procedures using state support instruments. We have already successfully digitised many of the IDAL services and are now going one step further so that all e-services for Latvian and foreign entrepreneurs are available in one place – on business.gov.lv.”

Since the autumn of 2021, when IDAL digitized its first e-services, these capabilities have been used nearly 6.5 thousand times. The e-services provided by the IDAL are used by various natural and legal persons: Latvian and foreign entrepreneurs, authors of business ideas, investors, institutions of higher education and research organisations, as well as employees of public administration institutions. Through e-services these natural and legal persons can apply for various types of financial support, information and networking events, consultations. business.gov.lv already has information on business sectors, markets and cooperation offers in one place.

When developing business.gov.lv, the vision of the IDAL for 2030 is:

  1. Creation of a single digital gateway for cooperation of entrepreneurs with the state (both Latvian and foreign entrepreneurs);
  2. 100% digital settling of business formalities and support.
  3. Direct promotion of business development and export capacity through artificial intelligence capabilities.

The nearest business.gov.lv development works envisage that by 2025, IDAL will transform the platform into a single gateway for entrepreneurs based on technological and conceptual solutions of business.gov.lv. The platform will serve as a content and government services delivery website with smart personalization capabilities. The aim of the project is to combine all national e-services aimed at business development into a single platform. The takeover of e-services for entrepreneurs is planned to conclude in 2030.

The total planned project costs will reach EUR 1.68 million without value added tax.
