SIA “Latvijas Nacionālais akreditācijas birojs” (Latvian National Accreditation Bureau) was transformed into a state agency, which fulfils functions of the national accreditation body as of 1 March 2018 and ensures the provision of accreditation services to conformity assessment bodies.
The transformation was implemented with the aim to create an efficient and transparent infrastructure that serves the needs of the private sector, promoting its productivity, export capability and integration into global value chains.
The reorganisation of the national accreditation authority does not change the function of this institution and the scope of its tasks. The state agency shall be a successor in property, rights and obligations of the capital company, and it therefore continues to perform the evaluation, accreditation and supervision of conformity assessment bodies in accordance with the currently existing arrangements.
