Two important initiatives have been implemented by the Ministry of Economics to promote the circulation of information and to strengthen the understanding of innovation procurement. The Ministry has prepared an information material, which includes the most relevant information regarding innovation procurement – its types and procedures, market research and evaluation criteria. In addition, the Ministry has developed and plans to periodically send out newsletters to all stakeholders regarding good practices and latest developments in innovation procurement matters in Latvia and the European Union.

Innovation procurement is an important instrument for improving the efficiency and feasibility of public services, which provides an opportunity to address existing public challenges and needs in areas such as mobility, digitalisation, healthcare, etc. In addition, it also provides benefits for businesses making it possible to research and commercialise ideas, enter new markets and strengthen skills and human capital capacity. Innovation procurement is an important additional resource for financing research, development and innovation.

Read more about innovation procurement in the material “Innovation Procurement. Essential”. You can apply for an innovation newsletter by writing to e-mail: inovacijas@em.gov.lv.

The information material and newsletters have been developed within the framework of the “iBuy” project of the European Union “Interreg Europe” programme, in which the Ministry of Economics is one of the project implementation partners. More information on the project is available here.
