The Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA) has completed the evaluation of projects in the European Union (EU) funds programme for investments from the Cohesion Fund (CF) in district heating. Of the 72 projects submitted, 62 have been supported, while 10 projects have not been approved because they did not meet the criteria of the programme.
The total amount of planned investments in supported projects is planned at 166.7 million euro, of which 45.5 million euro come from EU funds. 68.8 million euro from the Cohesion Fund are available to support projects, which are sufficient for all projects eligible under the programme.
Most of the projects, i.e. 29, are expected to be implemented in Pieriga; 13 projects in Zemgale and 13 projects in Kurzeme, 4 in Latgale, 2 in Vidzeme, and 1 in Riga.
The projects are intended for the construction of heat generation sources, replacing the existing heat generation source, and reconstruction, if renewable energy sources used for heat generation after the investments. Projects for the reconstruction of cogeneration plants into boiler houses fired by renewable energy sources, as well as the installation and construction of heat storage plants, have also been supported.
The 62 projects supported during the evaluation have been approved under conditions, namely that their applicants have to make clarifications and fulfil the conditions laid down in order to be able to conclude contracts on the implementation of the projects. The 10 project applications rejected did not meet the criteria that could be met through clarification of the projects.
