On the first weekend of April Riga will host a .tax Blockchain hackathon to tackle blockchain possibilities for the public sector and taxation. Hackathon is organised by Ministry of Economy in collaboration with State Revenue service and startup accelerator Startup Wise Guys. The 3-day event will be held at Swedbank co-working space DoBe.

 

“Modern economy is unimaginable without digital solutions and we see great potential in Blockchain technology applied to public sector. Through hackathon format we want to bring together tech and blockchain talents and experts from various fields to explore new solutions for public services and business environment,” says Minister of Economy Ralfs Nemiro.

 

Applications are open both for individual participants (programmers, blockchain pros, designers, marketers), as well as existing teams that are up for trying their skills and products in public sector. Hackathon is devoted to 4 challenges: tax fraud, big data, digital transformation and online cash register. Event will be in English and is open to international participants.

During the 3-day event participants will have access to blockchain pro's and mentors from business and public sector, demo session for jury of international investors and public sector representatives, as well as various prizes from supporters of hackathon.
