At the beginning of October 2018, experts from the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) visited Latvia to discuss the preparation of the 2019 Economic Survey on Latvia. The aim of this visit is to obtain the necessary information for the preparation of the Economic Survey which will be the third OECD survey of this kind after Latvia's accession to the OECD (the first one was published in 2015, while the second in 2017). In the 2019 Economic Survey on Latvia, the OECD intends to continue the analysis of Latvia's productivity related issues. 
 

During the visit, a wide range of issues was discussed in order to obtain information on macroeconomic stability, business environment and development, innovation system, labour market, fiscal and taxation policy, the shadow economy, pension system and health care, financial sector, housing and construction policy, transport and regional development, education and skills, as well as migration and diaspora issues. 
 

During this visit, meetings with public administration institutions, social partners and organizations representing entrepreneurs were held, as well as a regional visit to Daugavpils was arranged.
 

The OECD Economic Surveys assess the economic situation in Latvia, the process of implementing reforms, addresses the most important challenges for economic development, as well as provides recommendations for ensuring a sustainable and inclusive growth in Latvia.
